Organizational Setting

The FAO Investment Centre (CFI) aims to be the go-to place for investment and finance solutions that lead to more efficient, sustainable, inclusive and resilient agrifood systems. Working in over 120 countries, CFI provides a full suite of investment and finance support to FAO Members. It partners with governments, international financial institutions, national and international organizations, the private sector, research institutions, academia and producer organizations to improve the quality and quantity of agrifood investment. The Centre’s four main areas of work include support to strategic investment planning and policy, public investment, private investment, and innovative finance. These are complemented by the knowledge of investment and capacity development for investment program that serve to share knowledge more widely and position the Centre as a trusted voice on investment and finance.

CFI is a multidisciplinary Centre comprising the Director’s office, which leads on strategy and business development, knowledge management, communication and administration, and five regional services: Asia and the Pacific; Near East and North Africa, and Europe and Central Asia; West and Central Africa; East and Southern Africa; and Latin America and the Caribbean.

The post is located in the Office of the Director (CFID) of the FAO Investment Centre (CFI) at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.

Reporting lines 

The Knowledge and Information Management Officer reports to the Director and/or Deputy Director, and works in collaboration with the CFI Service Chiefs and Technical Officers.

Technical Focus

The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the Centre’s knowledge, information management and communication activities related to investment support in line with the FAO Strategic Framework.

Key Results

·        Provision of comprehensive knowledge and information management expertise and support to the Centre’s communication and outreach as they relate to investment support products and services and the FAO Strategic Framework.

·        Key Functions

·        Leads the design, planning and organization of knowledge management including the collection, organization and access management of FAO's knowledge and information resources;

·        Contributes to the formulation of new projects supporting the uptake of ‘knowledge for investment’ resources and capacity building activities;

·        Coordinates and manages the creation and dissemination of ‘knowledge for investment’ multilingual products and outreach events, online and in person, including the Centre’s Annual Investment Days event;

·        Supports partnerships and maintains effective engagement with internal and external knowledge partners, including investment, finance and research partners for the joint development and dissemination of knowledge on investment and finance related topics;

·        Participates in field assignments in support of investment and finance support initiatives for relevant communication and dissemination activities;

·        Manages a team of knowledge, information management and communication specialists to deliver a multimedia and multilingual programme on knowledge for investment;

·        Coordinates and assures quality of the continuous tracking of the Centre’s contribution to investment and finance support, statistics on investment operations, and translates this information into compelling narratives about the Centre’s work;

·        Organizes workflows to ensure timely and efficient access to user-centred quality information resources, including investment statistics, country and partner information briefs and information management tools;

·        Advises on strategic communication and best practices, and provides inputs to communication products including country and financial partner briefs, speeches and talking points;

·        Oversees and coordinates the delivery of key flagship products like the Centre’s Annual Review and Investment Days events;

·        Performs other related duties as required.

 

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

·        Advanced University degree in information science, communication, business administration, social science, or other fields related to the work of the Organization.

·        Seven years of relevant experience in knowledge management, information management, and communication in international organizations, or in private enterprises including experience in developing countries.

·        Working knowledge (proficient - level C) of English and limited knowledge (intermediate - level B) of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).

Technical/Functional Skills

• Extent and relevance of experience in the field of knowledge management, information management, publishing and communication and event management in large organizations, particularly at international level;

• Extent and relevance of experience in fostering and facilitating knowledge management and learning involving individuals and institutions;

• Extent and relevance of experience in managing multilingual and multimedia communication and outreach campaigns;

• Extent and relevance of experience in coordinating and finalizing high-quality written materials for a wide variety of audiences, such as International Financial Institutions (IFIs), Development Banks and or Bilateral cooperation organizations, and external non-technical stakeholders;

• Extent and relevance of experience in managing teams, including virtual teams;

• Understanding of FAO corporate publishing and communication policies is considered a strong asset;

• Knowledge of investment and finance subject matters and international financial institutions and familiarity with sources of related information is considered an asset;

• Demonstrated capacity to write technical reports in English;

• Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions.
