What we’re looking for:
We seek a highly motivated and affable individual to
manage the overall curation activities, research and compile digital
information, stories, articles, images, webpages, and videos for inclusion in
our courses and overall products. Our ideal candidate has experience in online
research and digital content curation, as well as is technological savvy across
multiple platforms, devices, and digital resources. A passion and enthusiasm
for educational content and an ability to maintain focus and motivation throughout
the completion of repetitive tasks are also needed to succeed in this position.
Main responsibilities in this position include (but are not
limited to):
Content curator
- Identifying relevant content that is not readily available through existing channels and from credible sources.
- Coordinating with other departments to obtain information or materials that are needed to create new content pieces.
- To contribute to sourcing and developing content. This includes sharing ideas for content, sourcing authors, and researching and writing blog posts.
- Distil and translate technical information into understandable, engaging content across a range of written, graphic and audio-visual content, both static and interactive.
- Evaluating content based on its accuracy, validity, and relevance.
- Curating content from multiple sources (newspapers, magazines, blogs, etc.) into a single location for easy access.
- Recommending changes to content so that it is more effective at achieving its purpose.
- Copywriting and editing text to correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, or terminology errors.
- Proactively identify new content and opportunities to support the promotion of DFI’s community activities.
- Investigate, secure, and properly document permission clearance to publish data, graphics, videos, and other media.
- Validate that the gathered material complies with company’s industrial, and legal rules by verifying the accuracy and relevance of resources.

Education and Experience:
- Relevant Diploma / Degree Qualification
- 2 - 5 years’ experience in content curation or a related position
- Experience using Mail Chimp and WordPress
- Experience distilling complex topics for broad audiences
- Strong digital literacy and technology skills
- Experience in writing or developing content.
- Experience and knowledge of digital finance, financial inclusion and/or education
Specialist Knowledge / Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in French is advantageous
- Highly organized and efficient, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and tasks across multiple program areas
- Strong networker with the ability to quickly build strong relationships at all levels in an organization and across sectors
- Eager to develop, upskill and inspire professionals to develop and make an impact for a more equitable world
- Skilled with MS Office and video conferencing
- Highly proficient in English communication – professional verbal and written skills (critical)
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects at the same time, prioritize tasks, identify and mitigate risks, and meet tight deadlines while still maintaining high-quality work.
- Ability to make content decisions even when information is limited, work effectively in a team and autonomously, and implement different projects at once.

Work hours and location:
- This is a permanent position and reports directly into the Events and Communications Manager.
- The working hours are in line with South African and UK standard office hours
- This position is a hybrid working position. Therefore, applicants must have an adequate workstation / home environment free from background noise, as well as their own reliable ADSL / Fibre connection at home capable of holding quality video calls (proof of sufficient connectivity will be required)
- We have a flexible working hours policy where employees are required to work 40 hours per week while working a 4-day week and be available during the company’s in contact hours between 10h00-14h00.
- Preference given to Cape Town based applicants but remote candidates will be considered.
- Applicants must be able to operate efficiently online during times of load shedding or power outages
