Specific Unit Description:
Education AFR E1 (Eastern and Southern Africa, HAEE1).
The Education Sector Unit for
Eastern and Southern Africa focuses on expanding education coverage, improving
learning outcomes, and enhancing access to quality education across various
levels.
Duties
and Responsibilities:
- ·
Operational Support: Assisting in project
development, drafting essential documents, and supporting project implementation.
- ·
Research and Analytical Support: Conducting
educational sector research, supporting knowledge products, and analyzing
sector information.
- ·
Support for HAEE1 Practice Manager and task
team leaders: Representing and supporting country-level education initiatives,
contributing to strategic documents, and aiding business development.
- ·
Dissemination Activities and Portfolio
Support: Participating in outreach activities, preparing materials for public
engagement, and supporting portfolio monitoring.
Selection
Criteria:
The position is well-suited
for a national of Tanzania who is highly committed to improve the education and
development status of the people. It offers a chance to engage with the
complexities of developing inclusive and resilient educational systems, while
providing exposure to aspects of educational development, including curriculum
design, teacher training, and climate-related educational interventions. It
also allows for the development of specialized expertise in areas such as
foundational literacy and numeracy, digital learning tools, educational policy
analysis, and project implementation. The ability to travel is a requirement,
enabling hands-on experience and collaboration with international and local
stakeholders. In addition to the general qualifications of the JPA program, the
candidate should meet the following qualifications.

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Development
Studies, Public Policy, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- ·
Minimum three years of relevant professional
experience in education or international development.
- ·
Technical expertise in education sector
development, ideally with field experience in Tanzania or other African
countries.
- ·
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and
analytical skills.
- ·
Ability to work under pressure, meet
deadlines, and adapt in a multicultural environment.
- ·
Fluency in English and Swahili preferred.
