The
Position
As the Market Data &
Insights Lead for Africa, your focus will be on developing and executing the
market data and insights strategy to support Africa’s growth agenda. You will need to manage a variety of internal
and external stakeholders and collaborate closely with global, regional, and
local functions. Your content expertise and seniority will allow you to act as
a strategic business partner and proactively engage the business to prioritize
critical questions for market and customer insights.
Main
Accountabilities
Deploy
Market Data & Insights to help the business execute on the Africa strategic
priorities including:

Driving efficiency of the current business
·
Enabling future growth initiatives, inclusive
of regional and global linkages
·
Developing future business models and
opportunities
·
Define key research priorities and manage the
execution and financial management of the research activity utilizing a
combination of internal and external resources.
·
Build and develop a Market Data & Insights
team within the Africa Network to drive the execution of Market Data
acquisition and insight generation.
·
Maintain visibility into market research and
competitive intelligence efforts across the Africa Network; Be a voice in our
global market insights team to ensure representation for African markets;
ensure efficient and constructive use of market research across the Africa
Network.
·
Provide regular updates to leadership groups
on the macro-economic environment and market dynamics, including size, share,
and growth; competitive tactics, behaviors, messaging, and product launches;
emerging players; and other topics related to the market and competitive
landscape, including trends.
·
Develop and remain ultimately responsible for
market models, market data, and insights related to Africa.
·
Surface findings from research that could lead
to areas of opportunity for Roche to the appropriate global stakeholders (e.g.,
Strategy & Transformation Office, Customer Areas, Functions)
·
Lead ad hoc projects to address strategic
market topics, In close collaboration with Marketing, Access, and Business
Development (leveraging cross-functional teams) (e.g., competitive workshops;
scenario planning; landscape evolution)
·
Support the annual Market Planning process
within the commercial teams by providing the necessary Market Data &
Insights
·
Support the development of dashboards and
tracking metrics for Pan-African Strategic Programs and projects
·
Support the 3-year strategy review cycle by
developing data sets and business insights in conjunction with the Strategy
& Transformation office.
·
Create linkage to EMEA LATAM NEO, platforms,
leadership teams, Government Affairs, Medical, other relevant stakeholders, and
affiliates within the region and global business to align with the Market &
Customer Insights strategies within Roche.
You,
as an ideal candidate, will have the following skills, experience and
education:
·
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or
Science, Advanced Degree (Strategic Marketing/Economics, MBA) preferred.
·
At least five years of Strategic Marketing,
Market research, Market Intelligence, Business development, or marketing/sales
experience.
·
Proven track record of leading and developing
Market Intelligence and Business Insights.
·
Proven track record of leading and developing
a team.
·
Experience and/or background in primary market
research, business intelligence, and/or analytics, including program management
and/or strategy development.
·
Strong communication skills and the ability to
successfully work within cross-functional matrix teams, driving and influencing
others, implementing vision and strategy across countries as part of the Africa
network
·
Proven track record of tactical agility,
ability to make decisions and problem solve in complex and ambiguous
situations, and working within the agile management approach.
·
Ability to engage and build strong
relationships with external stakeholders, co-create solutions and gain
insights, address needs, and represent Roche initiatives effectively
individually and as part of a broader team.
·
Strong influencing and negotiation skills:
confirmed abilities to influence others without authority and mobilize people
behind a common purpose and strategy.
·
Experience working in and with stakeholders in
African markets with demonstrated cultural empathy.
·
Ethical mindset and a good understanding of
relevant compliance principles and regulations.
·
Possess a proactive mindset, and be
self-motivated, a passionate driver from start to finish for projects, and
willing to handle all levels of tasks (hands-on).
·
Willingness and ability to travel within
Africa and International (e.g., EU, US) as required (approx. 40%)
·
Fluency in English is required (spoken and
written); other languages, including French and/or Portuguese considered a
plus.
